On Saturday, July 11th, 2026 the 7th National Tournament “La Serena Cup” was held in Coliseo Monumental in the City of La Serena, in the North of Chile.
This amazing tournament was organized by Karate and Contact Club “La Serena Dojo” directed by Sensei Gonzalo Valderrama and Sensei Gabriela González, and included infant, youth and adult categories for both Kata and Kumite competitions.
In between competitions there was a presentation of a Fencing Academy from the city of La Serena. The audience was really surprised and motivated to see the basics of this ancient discipline.
Competitors from major Chilean cities arrived early on Saturday morning, full of energy and excitement, this was an incredible opportunity to live an awesome experience together with friend organizations like Sokyokushin, KWF, Kyokushinkan, WKB, Seishin Kyokushin.
There were around 230 competitors and 88 were going for the Kata Tournament. All teams were supported by coaches, instructors and parents, that added up to around 400 people.
The tournament started at 10 am, after a technical meeting for referees, coaches and instructors, and ended at around 7pm with a closing ceremony and an inspiring IKO Matsushima Chile Team Photograph.
