On the Kyu Grading held at Shahnawaz Dojo International Pakistan, I am pleased to inform you that on the 1st Oct 2026 the Belt Awarding Ceremony and Certificate Presentation have now been conducted.
The 12 successful students were formally awarded their new Kyu belts and certificates.

I am pleased to share a brief report and selected photographs from the Kyu Grading conducted at Shahnawaz Dojo International, Daska, Pakistan, on 21 September 2026.
The grading was conducted under my supervision. A total of 13 students participated in the grading. 12 students successfully passed and were promoted to their respective Kyu grades, while 1 student was not promoted on this occasion.
The grading assessed the students’ progress in fundamental techniques, physical conditioning, discipline, and overall Kyokushin training.

I am sending this update from the seminar in Santiago, Chile, where I am working with my students on our grading syllabus and preparing for the November grading exam. Our dojos are following the IKO Matsushima program.

The 36th Kyokushinkaikan Karate Matsushima Championship was held successfully in Afghanistan on 4th September 2026.
With the objective of promoting and developing the sport of karate, identifying talented athletes, enhancing the technical abilities of practitioners, and providing an appropriate environment for healthy and constructive competition, the Championship was successfully organized.
The event was conducted with the extensive participation of athletes, coaches, referees, sports officials, sports enthusiasts, and distinguished veterans of karate.
A total of 186 athletes representing 15 Kyokushin karate clubs participated in the competition across 26 weight categories. The participants were divided into two groups, A and B, and four age categories:
– Children
– Youth / Juniors
– Young Adults
– Adults

Summer camp was held in Livadia Russia.

The camp leader was Shihan Klus Rex. The invited fighting coach was Ifl. Shihan Gyarmati Imre 2xEuropean Champion! Karatekas from ten countries participated in 4 training sessions per day. In addition, there was a judges’ meeting and a discussion of the European situation. The five days were excellently organized and spent in a family atmosphere. IKO Matsushima Hungary held its 2026 training camp in Miskolc from July 1st to July 5th
The trainings were held by Shihan Zsolt Tóth, Shihan Károly Vers, Shihan Vladimir Sekelj and myself. Our Croatian friends also participated in the camp. 16 people from my clubs participated in the event. There was also a judge training in the camp.

Our first major activity of the year was the traditional Kagami Biraki 2026, held on January 11th.

On June 21, 2026, Panama Bustos Dojo proudly organized the Third Edition of the Gojunin Kumite, one of our most demanding and inspiring annual events.

On June 28, 2026, Panama Bustos Dojo had the honor of participating in the Japan Fair 2026, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Panama at Albrook Mall.
The event celebrates Japanese culture and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Our dojo participated with an exhibition booth where attendees were able to learn about Kyokushin Karate, as well as a live demonstration on the main stage featuring kihon, kata and kumite performed by our students.

On Saturday, July 11th, 2026 the 7th National Tournament “La Serena Cup” was held in Coliseo Monumental in the City of La Serena, in the North of Chile.
This amazing tournament was organized by Karate and Contact Club “La Serena Dojo” directed by Sensei Gonzalo Valderrama and Sensei Gabriela González, and included infant, youth and adult categories for both Kata and Kumite competitions.
In between competitions there was a presentation of a Fencing Academy from the city of La Serena. The audience was really surprised and motivated to see the basics of this ancient discipline.
