For the first time in Indian kyokushin karate history 18 states have participated in the All India Full Contact Karate Tournament held at Guwahati, Assam from 3^rd to 6^th December 2010. It was a record number of states taking part in full contact tournament after 1995 where 12 states had taken part and was held at Guwahati itself. The tournament was held under the leadership of Sensei Hemanta Kumar Saikia and assisted by Sensei Vasant Kumar Sing, Branch chief. All together 256 participants take part in the tournament of which 210 participants are from kyokushin and 46 participants are from Wushu, Muay Thai, Teakwondo and other karate styles. Among the kyokushin fighters all kyokushin groups such as IKO Matsusima, Kyokushinkaikan, Shinkyokushin, kyokushinkan and Kyokushin Union have taken part in the tournament. All Branch chiefs and state in charges have decided to host the next National tournament at Kanpur on the month of November 2011 and will be hosted by Sensei Vasant Kumar Singh.
