Croatian Kyokushin Matsushima Winter Camp 2010

From 8th to 10th of January 2010, IKO Matsushima Kyokushinkaikan Croatia held his Winter Camp for children and teenagers in Spa Center Topusko, 90 km far from capital Zagreb.
As a spa, Topusko for the first time mentioned from year 1192. Today, it is known for its healthcare tourism and also for the preparation of athletes. His development is based on the hyper thermal springs (68-72°C) and the fresh forest air.
Timed in the middle of Croatian Kyokushinkai League for children and adolescents in season 2009/2010, the camp has provided the necessary relaxation of the competitive cycle. Also it has aim to raise the motor skills for upcoming events.
Training took place in two age groups in sports hall, gym and weight room. Early morning training sessions were held outside.
Camp was conducting 6 different trainings from basic techniques with kihon and kata to combat techniques, self defense and acrobatics. Various activities from games to polygons prevailed in the pre-introductory and in the concluding part of training with use of jumping rope as the main training aid.
Theoretical knowledge of the participants is adopted through a lecture on the origin of Kyokushin Karate, its development to the present days and about the IKO Matsushima Kyokushinkaikan organization. After lectures was held a quiz on the same topic.
Bathing in thermal pools followed after each workout. It was fun swimming in the outdoor pool, building human pyramids and having battles in the pairs on the shoulders. Days were ending with the night swimming up to 23 hours.
What this camp meant for students, best shows that some of them didn’t want to go back home.
