On May 26 the Second National Open Karate Matsushima Northern Area Tournament was held with the participation of more than 80 competitors from 5 to 54 years old and from different cities from the north , central and southern regions of Chile – IKO Royama, IKO Union and IKO Matsushima were present in this martial art event.
The Tournament took place in Alto Hospicio, a new emerging city 35 kilometers from Iquique, the capital of the First Region located in the middle of the Atacama desert, the driest desert in the world.
Iquique is located 1.700 kilometers from the Capital of Chile- Santiago.
The tournament started in the morning with children from 5 years old until teenagers up to 14 years old.
After a 40-minute break 15 to 17-year-old (male and female categories) started to continue with Adults beginners and advanced, adults female categories, seniors (over 40 years old) and finally adults male and female categories.
Spirit and courage and courtesy were demonstrated on the tatami as a clear representation of the real meaning of Kyokushin Karate.
Shihan Claudio Toledo from IKO Matsushima Chile was present at this event with a numerous team from Santiago and surroundings cities from the Central area of our country.
All participants congratulated on the organization and hospitality offered on This Second National Open Karate Matsushima Northern Area Tournament that allowed us again to gather together to enjoy and experience our Kyokushin Karate in this city from the extreme North area of Chile.
